This is a call to all democratic citizens from the European Union in order to put the right of “citizens’ initiative”, which includes the Treaty of Lisbon, in practice.

The new treaty which tries to strengthen the democratic efficiency and legitimacy of the Union and to improve its action’s coherence, states that a group of at least a million citizens from the Union, which belong to a significant amount of member states, can take the initiative to invite the European Commission, within the framework of its duties, to present an adequate proposal about the matters that those citizens estimate that a Union’s legal act is required in order to apply the Treaties.

We want all the walls, that exist in the Union’s territory and which have been built to separate or discriminate poor or marginalized social groups, to be knocked down. And in order to achieve it we are going to ask the European Parliament, the Commission and the Council to approve a European Law which prevents, from now on, anyone from building a wall to separate some citizens from others.
